The One that Works
I have been working out and eating according to this book's plan for about six weeks now and I am very pleased with the results. I have been weight training for several months and I have tried many plans that I considered unsuccessful, but this one is motivating and effective. I saw positive changes in my body after only a couple of weeks. I work out strictly at home; I have a very basic weight bench with a barbell and several dumbbells. I have no problem using the workouts with this basic equipment. I find the two-week "cycling" of workouts and diet both refreshing and effective. I will be able to continually progress using these workouts as I get stronger.
The descriptions of the exercise techniques are the most detailed that I have ever found in a workout book. And I e-mailed the authors with a couple of questions and received a prompt, detailed and helpful reply.
I cannot praise this book enough!
Use caution when following this plan
I bought this book to use as a weight training program alongside of my regular workouts, which consist of a 5K run several times a week plus Nautilus. I substituted the machines for free weights, cut two of my runs down to 2.5 miles, and went on the high protein diet the book suggestions (the 1500 calorie version).
Three days into the program I noticed a chronic headache, along with shakiness and difficulty concentrating. On day four, insomnia hit, closely accompanied by moodiness, dizziness, and nausea after eating. By noon of five, I was off of the diet. This is day seven, and I feel fine again.
After doing research, I found that 1200 calories is only 300 above a starvation diet, definitely unacceptable for a woman working out 6 times a week. I was on the "high calorie" form of this diet and, physically, I was a mess. The exercises are good and will yield results, but common sense should be used when following the rest of the program. For many like myself, sacrificing health and happiness for a sculpted physique really isn't worth it.
WOW!
Before I bought this book I would spend 1-2 hours a day in the gym and get minimal results. I couldn't believe that I could spend an hour a day and get great results. I have only been doing this workout for 2 weeks and I am already noticing a difference.
I also had several questions in regard to the workout and Hugo responded to my questions almost immediately, I was amazed.
This book is defintely one that shouldn't be passed up.
