Really nice book
I'm not a great cook, but I bought 2 cookbooks recently and have been really happy about it. Rachael Ray's 30-Minute Get Real Meals: Eat Healthy Without Going to Extremes and Simple and Simply Delicious by Sylvie Rocher. Those 2 books are great! They have simple to follow recipe and are so delicious.
With those 2 books I feel confident to have people over for diner now!
I definitely recommend them
Rachel Ray: "My 30 Minute Recipes are Hot - and so am I!"
Latest in the Rachel Ray "30 Minute Series" complete with the obligatory "See how cute/hot I am?" picture of her on the cover. In fact, this may be her "sauciest" photo to date...
Rachel Ray likes 30 minute intervals. Can't cook it in 30 minutes - she's not interested.
And while we're on the subject, what's the big deal with 30 minutes - is that supposed to mean its fast and easy or what? Especially without going to "extremes" - like what, grinding your own homemade saffron from the dried stigmas of the saffron flower?!? Almost nothing I cook takes 30 minutes - I can whip something together a meal in 15-20 tops.
Save your money on this thing.
Good but not the best
I like Rachel's cookbook, but it is not the best she has done. I think the cover of her is too painted and she looks far better with less makeup, have you heard Rachel, less is more. You should know that is also cohears in cooking.
Some dishes have too much of the hot spices, it seems as if it is a team through out her whole book, with the same hot spices. Sometimes simplicity goes a long way. 30 minutes meals, sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. I am looking at the aspects of 30 minutes meals, what Rachel does is buying some of it already pre made, well where is the joy in cooking in that. You have not even done it your self, how can you feel pride in serving that to someone. Rachel's meals has so many cut corners that claiming that is taste as if it has been cooking all day is a fad. Cooking is a form of art, it should be a joyful moment. Well, is it fun to cook with Rachel, doubtful. It is a constant running around in the kitchen to make it happen in 30 minutes, don't mind catching your breath there.
I have seen Rachel's show, from the time she starts her 30 minute meal. Hmm. Yes, she opens her refrigerator and picks out everything she needs, which is already prepared and stacked on one side of in the refrigerator. Then she talks, and talks. Goes to the pantry, and pulls out everything she needs, which is everything that has been stacked there for her convienience, magically the pantry empties out. What reality is that, we all don't have our pantry set up with the most needed parts, it is all a show, and no there is no 30 minute meals.
I have recently looked for cookbooks that is not promoted by a foodnetwork show and I found a brand new book called Catherine's Kitchen 1420832123. It is no 30 minute meals but it has a lot of good tasty dishes that is well worth taking the time to make and will make you look like a celeb chef in the kitchen.
