Reviews From Our Customers

Faithful to the show

This book is exactly what I expected after watching the similarly named show for the past year. I love the recipes and the style of the book. I already have Gourmet cookbooks for Italian cuisine, that's not what I was looking for here.

For those complaining about the many shots of Giada and not enough of the food - have you seen the show???? - there are tons of beauty shots of her on the show, absolutely useless shots of her beautifully cutting food, washing her hands, eating with her friends and family. Why are you shocked to find similarly useless shots in the book??? Why is this cookbook all of a sudden supposed to be the end all, be all of Italian cuisine with a serious Grand Master style when the show and the author are nothing like that?

I don't need to see what cooked spaghetti looks like, so I don't really care about the lack of photography of the finished dishes.

I want to know how to cook easy Italian recipes, without a lot of drama and snobbery, I've found that in the show and now I've found that in the book.

first cookbook

This is the first time I buy a cookbook. I'm a fairly good cook but never followed a recipe in my life. But I though it would be good to try new things so I bought this book and also Simple and Simply Delicious by Sylvie Rocher. Those books are amazing! I tried several recipes already and I love it, I'm learning about new flavour it 's just wonderful!
I guest I will recommend those 2 books!

Simple and delicious recipies for every day!

I've been a fan of the Everyday Italian TV show for some time now. Partly because I can watch an episode and easily recreate a recipe I've just seen with what I have on hand in the refrigerator and pantry. But more importantly, because the recipes are practically foolproof and the results are gratifying and very tasty!

The book is beautifully designed. The organization, particularly within each section, makes reading a pleasure, and searching for a dish for, say, tonight's dinner is a snap! I like the mixture of photographs of the author, ingredients, and completed dishes. Simple fresh ingredients are what these recipes are about, and the photos of the author add a personal touch and show that cooking, eating, and entertaining are supposed to be fun! I don't see the need to illustrate every prepared dish in the book. How many pictures of a roasted chicken does one need to see in cookbooks to know that it is not supposed to be black and shriveled burnt bird! C'mon. You know what Fettuccini Alfredo or a grilled steak is supposed to look like. The preparation instructions here are clear and simple. There is nothing so difficult included in this book that you need a step-by-step visual guide.

It is true that some of the recipes here are perhaps too basic for experienced cooks. There is no big secret to making a simple tomato or Béchamel sauce. But almost all cookbooks I'm familiar with, even those from world-renowned chefs, contain the authors' own versions of the standard building blocks from which their dishes are built.

The only reason I withheld the fifth star from this review is really rather selfish. I only wish the book were twice as long! I do look forward to the next collection of recipes!

Well done!
