Another Great Read
First of all, this series of books is possibly my favorite ever. I LOVE these books. This one was highly entertaining (as they all are), but to me, not as good as the 2nd and 3rd books. I enjoyed it better than the fourth, though. The whole shapeshifter storyline is so interesting to me! I love vampire storylines, but it was good for a change. This was a very fast-paced book with losts of character development.
The only thing I was dissapointed in was that there wasn't more Alcide and Sookie..I mean, come on...he's perfect..I need my fix! I just think they are so good together.
Other reasons why this series is awesome: I love all the Louisiana references because I live in Northwest Louisiana and have heard of almost all of the places she has talked about. Also, I like how Sookie is not one of those "I am woman, hear me roar" kind of gals. I can't stand it when the main character is a stuck up girl who think she is better than the men (and I'm a girl, so I'm not being sexist, lol). I just enjoy getting to read a book with a main character who is a polite Southern girl with some major spunk.
I highly recommend this series!! With entertaining, fast-paced stories, great characters, and funny dialog, these books are just fabulous!
Dead as a Doornail
When shape shifters and weres in her small Louisiana town start getting shot at, Sookie Stackhouse gets worried. Not only is her boss and possible love interest, Sam, a shape shifter, but her brother has recently been initiated into the were-panther world. She has other two natured friends as well. When Sam is injured, she is forced to ask Eric, a vampire she has more than passing interest in, for help managing the bar. On the surface, that's a simple thing, but with Eric, nothing is simple. Not long ago, she housed him during his recovery from amnesia, after which he could not recall the days in which he lived with her and fell in love. He can't remember her klling someone either, so you have to take the good with the bad. In any case, Sookie's closenss to weres, shifters, vampires, and fey has made her as much a target as any of them. Finding herself in the middle of multiple magical conflicts is nothing new to Sookie, nor is nearly getting killed. She just hopes she can figure out who's trying to do it now before she or someone she cares about is killed.
**** Warmly funny and frank, this series continues to be charming. Unlike some well known series, it's not graphic in any area, making it a relaxing read that anyone who enjoys a good paranormal romance or mystery can enjoy. ****
wonderful...couldn't put it down...
We just returned from a very long flight to Europe and I had thought ahead to order this book to take with us, since I have loved all her other books. Charlene Harris just keeps getting better with each book. The time on the plane and in the airport seemed short, simply because the book was so fun and fast paced I didn't want to stop reading it...another great book in the Southern Vampire Mysteries.
