| Hardcover Description Now, the classic books from the library of the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry--Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them and Quidditch Through the Ages--are available in hardcover in a sturdy boxed gift set. (These books are written by J.K. Rowling herself under the pseudonyms Newt Scamander and Kennilworthy Whisp.) Finally, Muggles will have the chance to discover where the Quintaped lives, what the Puffskein eats, and why it is best not to leave milk out for a Knarl. The Quidditch textbook explains where the Golden Snitch came from, how the Bludgers came into existence, and why the Wigtown Wanderers have pictures of meat cleavers on their clothes. Both books, designed to look like Harry Potter's actual, used Hogwarts textbooks, feature silly scribblings from Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Proceeds from the sale of this gift set will go to improving and saving the lives of children around the world. Harry Potter fans, rejoice! (All ages) |

Comedy for a Cause I bought the set from Amazon to complete my Potter Collection. I was very amused by the witty comments of the trio and the random notes scattered through the books. Living in England I've learned a great deal about the U.K. charity Comic Relief. For a small amount of money you're supporting a great cause. I particularly enjoy having a small bestiary (Fantastic Beasts and where to find them.) This small book will make more sense of the 3rd year Defense against the dark arts final or the various beasts involved in the Tri-wizard tournament in year 4. I totally recommend this set and have bought one for myself, my sister, and my grandmother.
Excellent Yes, these books DO seem like you're actually reading schoolbooks.. but hey, isn't that what was intended?
Somebody said that they were just to make money. I'm not sure what it was like in America, but in the UK, the books were sold for 'Comic Relief', a British charity. Not sure if they're still sold for charity in the UK now though. So yes, they were made just to make money, but for a good reason.
I liked the little sidenotes by Harry and Ron in 'Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them'. They were REALLY in character. Hermione also has about two notes, and, just like Hermione, she's moaning about how Ron should have bought a new book instead of dungbombs, then he wouldn't have to share Harry's book. Priceless!
'Qudditch Through The Ages' is an interesting read on Qudditch. While not having the notes of 'Fantastic Beasts', it has a Library List on the front page, with some of the names being recognisable. :D
I'd reccommend both of these books for big fans of Harry Potter!
10/10 - Excellent In-Character Books
Absolutely great! I bought them when they first came out, and I LOVED them. If you enjoy the Harry Potter series, these books are a must!! Cute, funny, and good for a light read. (Plus, they go to a good cause; what's to lose?) |
