Not For Mac But for Windows
The book is excellent. I own it because I purchased the software for my PC and needed additional instructions on how to use it more efficiently. I like Scott Kelby because I find his instructions easy to follow. I have purchased many of his books. Recently I entered the Mac World and was prepared to purchase the software (Element 3) for my Mac. As always I read His introduction because he always provide excellent insight as to why he decided to write a particular book. IT CLEARLY STATES IN THE INTRODUCTION THAT THIS BOOK IS FOR WINDOW USERS MOSTLY with little tidbits for Mac users. The reason..... many users of the software are PCers not Mac-ers. Also Element 3 left many major and minor features in the MAC version of this software . The book can help MAC folks, but it really is designed for PC folks.
Since I work in both worlds (PC and MAC) it help me to make a decision to Not purchase Adobe Photoshop Element for my MAC.
Didn't fill my needs or answer my questions.
I bought this book as a 1 stop tutor to PSE 3.0. I used it as a major reference in an on-line photo course for DSLR photography. I was highly disappointed. I found many steps incomplete and many questions unanswered or even referenced. Basic PSE3.0 titles were not indexed for reference and followup when problems encountered while working in PSE3.0 Organizer, Creator, or Editor.
Not enough information
While the book is great for step by step directions to get something done, often it doesn't tell you why or what you are doing. I could follow the steps but in the end I didn't understand what each step was doing. It's a good book for beginners who don't want to learn more but not advanced enough for intermediate users.
